Set Apart!

Today we were "set apart" as missionaries to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, by President Graham - our stake president. He laid his hands on our heads, and gave us each a blessing of strength, courage, stamina and many other wonderful things.

Deanna, Rich and Haden were there to be part of that special and spiritual time with us.

"The Call"

The letter was dated July 16, 2013.

Dear Sister Lewis,  (or Dear Brother Lewis, we each received a letter)

You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Your are assigned to labor in the Maryland Baltimore Mission.  Your primary assignment is to labor as a member and leader support missionary.  It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 18 months.

The letter said much more and it was beautiful.

Signed by Thomas S. Monson

President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Preparations

We started our mission preparations way back in January or February.  Doctor, dentist and eye appointments.  Vaccinations, tests and more tests.  We didn't think it would ever end.  In the middle of all that, my mother passed away and I made a trip to Denmark and was gone for three weeks in March/April.  When I returned, we finally finished everything and completed our interviews.  We submitted the missionary recommendation forms in the middle of May and then we waited.
