We're Like Family - notes from the MTC

Text from Sister Lewis 9/5/13 8:26pm

"Today was another wonderful day at the MTC.  Devotionals and classes are fun and uplifting.  We're learning to teach and invite others to come unto Christ.  Our district has 6 couples and 3 single sisters.  We're like family and we love them all.  Dad and I walked through and around the whole MTC.  Dad said this is where Jackie and Kristen walked.  We're on sacred ground.

The constant swarm of missionaries smiling and saying hi is so beautiful.  The spirit of this work is all around us.  Tomorrow is our last day of classes.   Sad it's almost over.  We're going to the Provo Temple Saturday morning.

Hurrah for Israel!"

Marriott Center Devotional - notes from the MTC

Text from Sister Lewis 9/4/13 4:17pm

"We are resting after a long day of classes and devotionals.  I just had my second hepatitis booster shot. We're going to dinner later even though we are still full from lunch.  The evening is free to practice and study for tomorrow.

Last night we went to the Marriott Center with thousand of other missionaries, young and old.  It was so amazing.  Elder David F. Evans of the Seventy spoke.  He is the Executive Director of the Missionary Department.  He shared with us everything that has taken place since the announcement last October of lowering the age to serve.  Unbelievable.  This place is swarming with missionaries.  I love to look at them all in the cafeteria.  Two other couple here are going to our mission.  Really nice people!

We might go to the BYU football game Saturday".

"Fried chicken with gravy, mashed potataoes, peas, roll, salad, ice cream.  Oh my gosh!!  We're having dinner at Bryan Morse's Sunday".

Everything is Wonderful Here - notes from the MTC

Text from Sister Lewis 9/4/13 12:33pm

"Everything is wonderful here.  Never had so much fun and met so many wonderful people.  We are BFF with everyone.  The spirit is so strong here.  We gave our first lesson this morning to a "practice couple".  So neat.  The food is great but there is too much.  Dad and I just watched some of the 700 young missionaries arriving today.  Lots of big and wet eyes.  One car arriving after the other.  The Lord's work in action.  We're on the wave.  So grateful to be part of it."

Small World - notes from the MTC

Text from Sister Lewis 9/2/13 5:34pm

"I have to tell you this...we were just eating dinner and this other couple came and sat with us.  We talked and found out that he was Alma Yates - the brother to DeAnna Yates who was a missionary in Denmark and I named Deanna after.  I LOVED their family and spent so much time with them my first year in the US."

On the "Wave" - notes from the MTC

Text from Sister Lewis 9/2/13

"It's 3:45pm and we're free for the rest of the day ;).  We're going for a walk, then dinner and study some this evening.  The room is really nice, right here at the MTC 3rd floor.  But wait...no TV!  We LOVED eating lunch with herds of young missionaries - all so sweet.  147 senior missionaries arrived today.  650 young missionaries will arrive Wed., 100 every 15 minutes.  We're on the "wave" and so happy to be part of this glorious work."

Sept. 2, 2013. MTC - We're Official!

Jackie Fisher, our daughter, wrote this on Facebook the day we entered the MTC:

Our beautiful missionary parents!  Just checked into the MTC!  So proud of you guys.  Tears flowing.   Elder and Sister Lewis: never been more excited for you both!

"Now behold, a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men.  Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength.  If ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work."
